Peterborough Cat Rescue is run entirely by volunteers, and our cats and kittens are cared for in foster homes. We do not have a public rescue centre, and as foster spaces are often full, we may not always be able to help immediately.

Please call us immediately if you are concerned about:

A cat that is ill or injured
Any cat at risk of severe suffering or death
A pregnant or nursing cat found outdoors and alone
Kittens under six months old seen outside without their mother

Please be respectful to our volunteers at all times. Abusive or aggressive behaviour will not be tolerated and may result in contact being ended.

Please note: We are unable to remove cats from owners or intervene in situations involving owned pets.

Fostering is at the heart of what we do. As a foster-based rescue, we rely on our amazing network of fosterers to care for cats until they find their forever homes. Without them, we simply couldn’t help as many cats in need.

Work Experience Enquiries

Thank you for your interest in gaining experience with us. As we are a foster-based rescue, we don’t have a physical shelter or central premises. All of our cat care takes place in the homes of our fosterers, which means we’re unable to offer formal work experience placements.

If you’re interested in supporting us in other ways, we’d love to hear from you. We sometimes need extra help at fundraising events and community activities, and volunteering for these can still be a great way to get involved.

For structured work experience opportunities, organisations such as Woodgreen may be better suited, as they have dedicated facilities and established programmes.

General queries are not sent to the adoption team and will be sent to other team members to review. If this is about an adoption you will need to ensure you have selected the appropriate query type at the begining of this form.

We understand that parting with a cat can be a difficult decision. Peterborough Cat Rescue is a small charity run entirely by volunteers and fosterers. As we don’t have a physical shelter, space is limited and we may not always be able to take in new cats immediately.
