Adopt Ash from Peterborough Cat Rescue

Ash

Ash is a sweet and confident 8-month-old boy who loves nothing more than being around people. The most outgoing of his siblings, he is a real purr machine who is always happy to receive attention.

His favourite things are cuddles, curling up on your lap and spending time with his humans. He is every bit as lovely as he looks!

Ash would suit a home with cat-savvy children aged 8 or over and could live with other cats following careful introductions. Dogs are untested.

He will need access to the outdoors once he has settled into his new home for at least four weeks

Partially Vaccinated: The first vaccination has been completed. The second will need to be arranged and covered by the new owner.

How do we decide on suitability?

We’re a foster-based charity, so each cat lives in a home environment before adoption. This helps us see how they cope with things like children, other cats, and dogs.

Because we don’t always know a cat’s full history (especially if they were a stray), our guidance is based on what we’ve observed in foster care. For example:

If a cat has lived happily with children, we’ll note they’re suitable for family homes.
If a cat is very timid and hasn’t been around children, we may suggest an adult-only home.
The same applies for cats and dogs — suitability depends on their behaviour and what we’ve seen first-hand.

As a foster-based rescue, when one cat is adopted their space is quickly filled by another in need. If a cat is adopted into an unsuitable home and has to return, it unsettles them and creates real challenges with our limited foster spaces.

We also believe that, where possible, cats should have safe access to the outdoors. Unless a cat is specifically listed as indoor-only, outdoor access is a requirement for adoption.

Our priority is always to match each cat with the home where they’ll feel safe, settled, and happy.

Planning for your cat’s care

Before welcoming a cat home, it’s worth thinking about the everyday costs and how you would manage an unexpected vet bill. These estimates give you an idea of what to budget for. Your cat’s needs and the prices you pay may vary.

Everyday costs — per month
Food	£15–£30
Litter	£8–£15
Flea and worm treatment	£6–£12
Pet insurance	£12–£25
Routine vet care, averaged over the year	£5–£10
Estimated monthly total	£46–£92

Other costs to allow for
Getting settled Carrier, bowls, toys and a bed	£30–£100+
Annual booster vaccinations	£45–£70
Microchip updates or replacements	£0–£20

When something unexpected happens

Illness, injury and dental treatment can bring extra vet bills. We strongly recommend pet insurance. If you choose not to insure your cat, you’ll need another way to cover unexpected treatment.

We ask all adopters to keep vaccinations and flea and worm treatments up to date, and to seek veterinary care promptly if their cat becomes unwell or injured.
