Fostering
Fostering with Peterborough Cat Rescue
We don’t have a cattery or physical rescue centre — we rely completely on the kindness of our amazing volunteer fosterers to care for cats and kittens until they find their forever homes.
Could you give a rescue cat a temporary safe space?
🏡 Why Fostering Matters
Every cat we rescue needs a safe, warm space to rest, recover, and get ready for adoption. Our foster homes allow us to help:
🐱 Stray and abandoned cats
🐾 Kittens too young to be adopted
🐈⬛ Pregnant or nursing mums
😿 Cats recovering from illness or surgery
🐾 Feral or semi-feral cats in need of quiet spaces
✅ What You’ll Need
Fostering doesn’t require a lot — just a safe, loving environment.
We ask that you have:
A spare room or quiet space where the cat can settle in
Time and patience to help them feel secure
A willingness to work with shy, nervous, or recovering cats
Your own transport (to get cats to the vet or homing events, where possible)
Some cats may not mix well with other pets, so a separate space is essential to start with.
What We Provide
Fostering is temporary, but incredibly rewarding — and we’ll support you every step of the way.
We provide:
✅ All essential supplies (food, litter, bedding if needed)
✅ Cover for all vet costs
✅ Ongoing support and guidance from our team
✅ Flexibility — foster for a few weeks or longer depending on your availability
Why Foster?
You’ll help save lives
It’s a rewarding experience — watching shy cats bloom is magical
You’ll help cats become ready for adoption
You get all the joy of having a cat… without the long-term commitment
